Our Essential Broadband tariff for eligible households
- Our Essential Broadband Tariff is for County Broadband customers – with either a fibre or wireless connection – who receive either Universal Credit or Pension Credit.
- Your broadband service will be changed to 15Mbps (symmetrical, meaning both download and upload speeds) for a monthly tariff of £17.50 (inc. VAT)
- There is no activation fee to transfer onto the Essential Broadband Tariff
- Your contract length is not altered by moving onto the Essential Broadband Tariff: the original term and expiry date of your contract will still apply
- Terms and conditions for the Essential Broadband Tariff are available here.
Who is eligible?
- To apply for the Essential Broadband Tariff, you or a member of your household should be in receipt of either Universal Credit or Pension Credit
- Customers can reapply for the Essential Broadband Tariff, based on eligibility: there is no limit to the number of times that a customer can apply or transfer to the tariff
How do I apply?
- Please use the online eligibility checker, provided by the Department of Work and Pensions, on the service portal section of our website.
- You can then submit your application online and our Customer Service team will process your application as quickly as possible.
I’m no longer eligible: what happens next:
- We’ll check every few months to see if you’re still eligible for the Essential Tariff. If you are, you will remain on the Essential Tariff and continue to be charged £17.50 a month.
- If you no longer receive Universal Credit or Pension Credit, or on request, you will be changed back to your previous speed and tariff.
- We’re here to help and will do all we can to keep your broadband connected, so please speak to us as soon as possible if you’re going to have trouble paying your next bill.
