As students across the country are receiving their GSCE and A-Level results this month, future studies and new careers are at the top of many people’s minds.
Earlier this year the Guardian stated that the number of students applying for university has risen by 5% compared to 2021. There is also an upwards trend of students choosing to go into an apprenticeship after school or college, according to UCAS.
Meanwhile, not only did the Covid lockdown uproot entrenched views on remote work (for the better), but it also spawned a new era of re-evaluating career goals and values. LinkedIn research shows that 23% of millennials hope or plan to leave their current roles within six months. There has also been countless examples of other people switching careers to re-establish purpose and fulfilment.
And here at County Broadband, we have just launched our brand new dedicated Careers Hub, filled with 30+ positions at all levels, from network operations to customer services, as part of our plans to grow the company.
As you start to look forward to your future and decide what you’d like to do after school, college or university, or you’re wanting a change in career, here’s how County Broadband can help kickstart your career.
Here at County Broadband, a local East of England based broadband provider, we have grown exponentially over the past few years, and have exciting plans to grow our workforce to create a 270-strong team to support our rural rollout across the East of England.
Edward Ring, Training Manager at County Broadband, said: “I know I’ve joined at a pivotal time in our journey, and I have a simple vision: accessible training for everyone. I wholeheartedly believe in the betterment of oneself and there’s already incredible buy-in to this philosophy from every department and every senior manager at County Broadband.”
You can do so much with your career if you’re willing to engage in a learning environment. By achieving new accreditations and qualifications and knowing you can get all your career needs met, and your personal needs met, this then benefits everyone and our customers.
Training is available online and in person and aligns to everyone’s personalised development plan to allow everyone to get the best out of the training and the best out of their career at County Broadband.
Julie Goddard, a Customer Connection Supervisor in the Customer Connections team, said: “I’m keen to learn new things, work hard and achieve job satisfaction – and I know I’m going to benefit from the family-feel culture here where everyone has got your back. The management are also very approachable and helpful, which is making life at County Broadband already so enjoyable.
“Within my role, I help to resolve issues for our customers, provide advice on how the full-fibre installation will work at their home or business, and help coordinate new installations and engineer call-outs.”
We are always on the lookout for new members of our team in a variety of roles which are remote, hybrid or on-site. You could be working in our customer service team as the first point of call for our customers. What about building our full-fibre network? You could be part of the build team on the ground. If customer service or the build team aren’t up your street, there are so many other roles from marketing to the finance teams.
We are also an Apprenticeship Levy payer and are planning to recruit local apprentices to help develop the digital skills the region needs.
After securing an additional £100 million in private investment from Aviva Investors earlier this year, building on the £46 million achieved back in 2018 from the same investment team, we plan to further extend our network to 500,000 premises by 2027.
