How does wireless broadband work?

Our wireless broadband works by using microwave-like frequencies to distribute a broadband service without the use of copper cables. By using this method, we are able to deliver faster broadband speeds to more remote and rural locations. Speeds can reach up to 80mbps dependent on your location.

What speeds will I get?

Depending on which package you sign up for, we can offer between 16mbps at the lowest tariff and 80mbps at the highest tariff. Please note 80mbps speeds are only available in selected areas. For more information about the speeds you can receive, please speak to our customer services team.

How do I get connected?

Our engineers will install a small dish, generally no bigger than a standard dinner plate to your property and a cable attached from the antenna to a small point of entry into your home, which connects to a Wi-Fi router. The dish installed can vary in shape and size depending on your location from our access point.

Can I get a phone service as well?

Yes. We have a full range of telephone packages available alongside our wireless broadband packages. Please choose the phone option when you place your order.

What if I move house?

If you are in a contract with County Broadband you will need to fulfil the contract in full. Please note that should you move house and a new tenant/homeowner moves in and takes up a service with County Broadband, your remaining contract would become void. Should you move property and we are able to provide you with another County Broadband service, we can void your existing contract and start another contract at your new address.

What happens if I am outside your network area?

You may not be able to receive a signal. However, you can still enter your postcode on our website and if you can’t receive our service, we can look to explore the option of a campaign to bring a wireless or fibre network to your community.

What will it cost me to get connected?

We charge a standard installation charge of £99 for residential wireless broadband services. This includes 1.5 hours of engineering time and 15 metres of cabling to get you connected to our network. Please note, should any excess installation charges be applicable for your wireless installation our engineer will agree these with you before installation takes place.

Can I upgrade my package?

You can upgrade your fibre service at any time to any of the packages available on our website, which will start a new contract with us, however you can’t downgrade you services. Downgrading refers to taking promotional packages or lower-priced tariffs.
